The Best Places To Visit in Minneapolis’ Loring Park NeighborhoodJuly 21, 2016

This summer, our Spyder Trappers have been busy taking high-quality photographs and writing creative copy for various businesses and attractions in the Loring Park neighborhood of Minneapolis. It’s not work we’re doing for a client and it’s not work that was done on-the-clock. But, it is work our team is excited about. We were given the opportunity to curate the best places to visit in Loring for On the Grid, a very cool site that’s home to “neighborhood guides by local creatives.” Since we call Loring our home, it’s an honor to share and publicize the great places that exist in this underrated part of town.

We’ll be updating our curated list as new hot spots emerge, and you can check out onthegrid.city anytime for the full list of the 12 current places we love. Below we’ll give you a look into just five of our favorite places to visit in Minneapolis, in no particular order.

1.) The Third Bird

If we’re judging by the frequency in which we visit, the Third Bird is easily our favorite place in the city. It’s just a short trip across a beautiful brick-lined alley from our office to their front door. It’s one of the few restaurants in the area open during lunchtime, so their lunch (and happy hours) are constantly frequented by Spyder Trappers. It’s almost a second office for us. Proximity isn’t the only positive, of course, they have an excellent food and drink selection that’s served to you by their wonderful and very friendly staff. This place is a must for anyone in the neighborhood.

2.) Sisyphus Brewing

Sisyphus is another favorite of Spyder Trap for many reasons, the biggest being the great beer they brew up. We were happy to have Sam from Sisyphus on a panel that was hosted here at Spyder Trap about the thriving MN beer industry. Sam and his wife Catherine are great brewery owners, bartenders, and people. On of the best parts about Sisyphus is the performance space frequented by national comedy acts, and other fun entertainment to accompany good beer and vibes. Be sure to check out their cool taproom and have any one of their many fresh beers they have on tap.

3.) Cafe Lurcat

Cafe Lurcat is another one of Spyder Trap’s closest neighbors, and not only is it the talk of Loring but also a hot spot of Minneapolis in general. Lurcat, as its referred  to by locals, is an upscale restaurant in Loring featuring modern and sophisticated twists on American comfort foods. We recommend the State Fair quality (or better) mini donuts during happy hour. Also, be sure to check out Bar Lurcat before you sit down for your meal inside or on their open air patio.

4.) Walker Art Center

Walker Art Center and Sculpture Garden in Minneapolis | Spyder Trap

The Walker Art Center is a staple of the Twin Cities thats located in right across the highway from our offices. The Walker features hometown artists all the way up to the big names. The Walker is a creative hub in the Cities from their Rock the Garden event to their artist curated mini-golf course. Perhaps the most notable part of the museum is what most people see when they first enter the city, the Sculpture Garden. Most famous for its iconic Cherry on a Spoon, the garden is host to numerous works of art perfect for a romantic stroll or family outing. We must say however that at this time the Sculpture Garden is closed for renovations until Summer 2017. We expect it to look amazing when it reopens, but the wait will be a hard one.

5.) Loring Park

Finally, what list about the Loring neighborhood would be complete without the park itself. The beautiful urban park is host to art seminars, concerts, children’s activities, and many other events. Even in the cold Minnesota winter the park is host to things like public cross country skiing trails and pond hockey rinks. If after all your fun in Loring Park you don’t feel like dealing with the hustle and bustle of events, there are plenty of beautiful shady spots to lay down and relax.

So next time you’re in the neighborhood, first stop by Spyder Trap to say hi or for our expert digital consulting, then check out any of our picks for places to go in Loring Park. There’s something for everybody in Loring, from art to food to drink, to haircuts in a hip record store.
