2) Foursquare Announces a 54% Usage Increase
Foursquare separated itself into two entities earlier this year: a new version of Foursquare that features customer reviews and Swarm, a location-based check-in app. This week, the company announced a 54% increase in usage since the change. The new Foursquare continues to challenge other local review apps like Yelp, OpenTable, YellowPages, and Urbanspoon. Foursquare reports the site now has 55 million registered users, according to Search Engine Land.
3) Twitter Launches In-App Music Streaming Service
This week Twitter launched an in-app audio streaming service that allows users to play music or podcasts directly from their timelines. It’s called Audio Card, and it allows people to click on a tweet with a song in it and listen while continuing to browse the site. iTunes is also on board, so users can listen to music in their timeline and then be transferred to Apple’s service to buy the song. Tech Crunch has the full story.
4) Apple Introduces Maps Connect Local Listings Portal
There’s a new, free self-service portal to add or edit local business listings: Apple Maps Connect.
