In this current economic climate, more and more employers are doing away with many of the benefits employees have become accustomed to. For instance, a recent survey of large companies by the National Business Group on Health found that 63% of employers plan to increase the percentage that employees contribute to their health insurance premiums and 46% plan to raise out-of-pocket maximums.
Health, Dental, Disability & 401k
At Spyder Trap we are bucking this trend. We provide our employees with 100% employer-paid medical and dental insurance with a reasonable co-pay amount. We realize that benefits such as these are a great way to retain our current employees and to attract great future employees.
Peace of mind in the case of a life-ending or disabling event is also important. Our employees are provided employer-paid life insurance and disability as well. Our employees can rest assured that if there is a catastrophic event in their lives, their families will be taken care of. Because all Spyder Trappers will one day retire, in 2011 we put into place the Spyder Trap 401(K) Plan.
Because we pride ourselves on keeping our fees as low as possible while maintaining the high quality of work we’ve become known for, we needed to get creative on other employee benefits.
Most companies award an initial paid-time-off amount upon hire and then the employee must wait anywhere from two to five years before they are awarded an additional day of paid-time-off. At Spyder Trap, employees earn an additional day of paid-time-off each year.
A Mix Of Work & Fun
All Spyder Trappers are hard workers but we also like to play. When an employee feels the need to blow off a little steam or take a break, they may challenge a fellow employee to a game of darts or some bowling on our Wii system. Our design team prefers to putt golf balls in the office.
On a regular basis, we hold happy hours so members of the team can share with the rest of the group anything cool they’ve run across since the last time the team gathered. Recently, the whole company took a field trip to Legoland at the Mall of America for a day of inspiration.
