Eighteen non-profits, 180 web professionals and 24 hours of organized web design chaos is on tap for March 26th and 27th as the 4th annual Nerdery Overnight Website Challenge takes place.

Spyder Trap’s Jeff Wagner, Perry Govier and I will be part of the Concrete5.MN team competing and donating a full blown website to a Minnesota non-profit.

Web teams and non-profits met for a speed dating Web Challenge mixer on March 14th.

A pre-event mixer (photos) took place this past week to allow web teams and non-profits a chance to engage in a “speed dating” session to learn more on each other. This pre-event was a whirl in itself talking to 18 different groups in under 2 hours … I can only imagine what’s in-store for us during the 24 hour event.

Using Web Design Skills For Great Causes

Over the years I’ve been lucky to have the chance to donate my talents and full websites to other non-profits. The Overnight Web Challenge is a great example of taking this to another level. In this, it’s 4th year, the event has grown to 18 teams.

This year alone, over 50 non-profits applied for this incredible opportunity to get a new web design from talented Minneapolis area web designers and developers.

Join The Ride

I can’t wait for the event, the excitement, the chaos, the teamwork and especially the outcome of making a great website for a deserving group in just 24 hours. Myself and other members of the Concrete5.MN team will be tweeting, updating Facebook, sharing photos and likely even video throughout the event. Why should we hog all the fun?

Mike Rynchek will be representing Spyder Trap Online Marketing as a guest mentor at Ad Fed’s Mentorship Circle Event at 5:30pm tomorrow at Spill the Wine in downtown Minneapolis.

“We are happy to be involved with Ad Fed and are looking forward to connecting with some of the young talent in the Twin Cities.” said Rynchek, who will be discussing interactive and marketing topics with the group.

The Ad Fed Mentorship Circle program is designed to allow members to individually interact with industry mentors by meeting them in an informal group setting called a Circle Group. These Mentorship Circle Events are held four times a year and allow participants and industry professionals the chance to talk one on one and in a group discussion setting. It is a great opportunity to learn from the best and the brightest in the industry, network with professionals and learn from your peers.

The Ad Fed Mentorship Circle program does not facilitate the match between an individual mentor and a mentee, however, these events are designed to allow a mentor and potential mentee to make a connection, and possibly develop a mentor/mentee relationship outside of Ad Fed. Participants can also choose to simply attend quarterly Circle Events where mentorship will happen via group discussions.

To meet Mike at the event, and to see the other mentors attending the event, visit the Ad Fed site for more details.
