Hey Nate,

Thanks for the comment and I'm glad you found the subject interesting.

I agree 100 percent with the organic value of social media. For the purpose of the blog post I stuck with more of the consumer behavior side but quality inbound link generation is HUGE in online PR/social media! I really like your thoughts around pulling in ROI into projects. We really push for an ROI or accountability in some form when engaging in a project. I am really pushing for clients to think of social media as any other medium and ROI and trackability is always a component.

Re 3rds. I know, not overly original but I guess pretty throwback as a 3rd should be in my opinion. I like your wife's idea. Mix it up a bit, I think that would look pretty sweet actually.

Thanks again for the comment.

Mike, love the topic.

In my experience, recognition and reach are the two most powerful aspects of integrating social media as part of your search marketing campaigns.

However, one thing that cannot be overlooked is the simple fact that social media (done correctly) almost always equals inbound links and those inbound links improve relevancy, page rank and ultimately help your search placement.

So, if you are trying to convince a C-suite as to the power of social media, and brand awareness or issue management isn't enough and they really want the ever present ROI, show how you can tie that additional traffic into your SEO or SEM and ultimately improve that marketing dollar.

Now, on the 3rds, I've heard similar comments. One thing that really stuck out to me was how they looked like a D-III school jersey. One that was clearly too professional to be high school, but a little more "edgy" than a D-I would be able to pull off.

My wife hates the all-green, and thinks it would be better with white breezers and socks, but I don't mind the mono-chromatic look.
